The Fat Friend

Sorry, no knitting content today...just life evaluation:

I am the second one on the left if you didn't know.

These are some of my best girlfriends!

Lately, I have been motivated by seeing the lives change of the contestants on the Biggest Loser. I know that I could totally be one of those people on the show. The most depressing part is when I see them weight in on the first day and put up numbers close if not exactly what I weigh. That is so disturbing to me.

I used to be a collegiate athlete, really, Division I. I used to lift weights and work out everyday for three if not five hours a day. Running up stadium stairs was a breeze back in the day. Now, I do nothing…really…until I joined the gym with my husband about two month ago I had done nothing in FIVE years. I tell people I took time off to have three kids but really, I was just SICK of working out. I felt like I had worked out everyday of my life for 13 years and I needed a break. Well, my break is OVER!

I see these “common” people able to stick to a diet, work out whenever possible and I see them happy. That is all I want…to be happy with myself. I don’t want to be the Fat friend anymore. I don’t want to just be known for having the pretty face and a killer sense of humor. I want to be HOT. Look out world, here comes the M.I.L.F!

Of course I know that working out and knitting on the treadmill is not going to get me the results that I want. But, it is a start. I am at least off my ARSE doing something!

So, here we go! Do you want to join me for this ride?

I'm in. I got a heart rate monitor for Christmas that will arrive later this week - then I'm off to the gym. I'm starting slow, a commitment to 3 days a week to start. :)

Otay! I'm with you! I need someone to report to (my husband doesn't count--He's figured out that it's best to always say, "You look great, honey!" no matter what).

I'm going to aim for hitting the gym in the morning, five times a week if I can, four is good, three times minimum. There, have I given myself enough slack? I really don't think that eating poorly is my problem, I just need to get off my arse! (You said arse, too...heh)

We can do it! My first step should probably be to stop staying up late at night knitting. ;)

HI Marly -

It's the best thing you can EVER do for yourself! Joe and I live by South Beach as he has inherited a cholesterol problem. He has 2 stints (one before we married 5 yrs ago) Now his Dr can't believe how his bloodwork #s have improved. It's not a diet for us; it's a way of life.

You can do it! It's just one day at a time. Plan what you are going to eat - if you are meeting friends out for lunch; decide what you are going to order before you get there. Eat something healthy before you leave home so you won't be starving.

You can do this!
