Mumbo Jumbo
I hate it when I sit down to post something and I can't decide what to write about. There are so many things in my mind, so many things I want to write down on this computer but I don't know where to begin! Okay, how about a request for suggestions?
- Here take a look at this site and let me know what you think do far?
- What are some things you would like to see in a website like this?
- What do you like to do when you make purses?
- Do you have an interesting tip for us that we should be sure to include?
***If you help us, We will help you ;-)***
Thanks for the information ya'll!
Let me get my thoughts in order then I will be back later today:-)

The Purse Workshop looks great so far. I really like the logo - very cute. Purses aren't terribly high on the list of things to knit for me. But I have made one purse, so they're certainly somewhere on the list. So, speaking as an on the fence purse knitter, I'd say the most important thing to add to the site is inspiration. That would probably come in the form of pictures (lots) and gotta-have-em patterns... things to get me off the fence and knitting purses. Personaly (pursonaly? Sorry.), I'm all about the knitting and not so much about the finishing. So purse patterns which require minimal finishing would be up my ally. Other things that would make a purse pattern appeal to me are:
1. a good way to use up small amounts of yarn
2. a good way to try a new technique on a small scale project (fair isle, beading, felting, etc.)
3. a truly functional and/or fabulous design.
4. mix-and-match elements...this body shape with those handles and that closure with this ememblishment...you get the idea.
I hope this is helping! I think it's awesome that you're doing this and I wish you tons of luck with it. Go get 'em tiger!
I love the banner!! Any reason you are not having the background continue throughout the whole page? It would be more pleasing to the eye.
I would like to see patterns!! Not only patterns for sale - but if you could seek out and link to freebies online - you'd be my one-stop for bags online!! I'm not real inclined to buy a completed purse - I'd rather make it. But my sister - she'd buy a completed purse! She's as crazy about purses/bags as I am!
I'm more into bags than purses. I need to be able to hold my current project, instructions, sunglasses, PDA, etc, etc, etc. Somehow most purses can't handle all that! Big pockets would be VERY helpful.
Links to resources online (handles, good(aka cheap ;) yarn, etc) would be helpful. If you found a special online, share!!
OH! And a logo that one could add to her blog to link to your site!! Very helpful!
Awesome website, Marly! I don't know where you find time to do all these things. Are you going to be including purse patterns as well? Because that's about the only thing I'd add. Good luck!
Looks good!! ... I'd want information about sewing purses as well, and maybe about really cool and groovy fabrics (the kinds I always see but don't know where people get them) ... just an idea!
This is probably a bit specific, but what is the difference between a single crochet and a slip stitch? As I read the instructions they seem the same. (BTW, the site looks GREAT!)
The one thing I'd love to see is 'how to make a fabric lining for the purse (or bag)'. I like both bags and purses (the bags for me and purses as a gift :D)
A lot of patterns that I like say to add a lining ... but not the how. Frustrating for sewing-challenged people like me. ... also reference to resources a person can find help with creating a lining. ... just a thought!
Love the Purse Workshop webpage! :)
Wow. You've got some great suggestions from people already. I second everything Jean said. I'm SO helpful.
If I make the banner graphic longer, will that let it bleed to the end of the page, or will it try to wrap it around? Because I can easily make it longer.
Hey Marly,
Looks Great. I've been looking around for a bag to knit. My dream bag...would be not too small but not as big as the kitchen sink either. I need lots of pockets: PDA, cellphone, Keys, Juice cup (I know I'm dreaming). I also like a divider in the middle...so I can carry my current project on one side of the bag, and all my junk on the other. Good Luck!
Marly, the web page is totally coming along and looks great. I second giving a tutorial about lining purses and how to sew. I am cluless on both. I would also like to know about handles. What to look for when purchasing, where to shop for them etc. Also, how to crochet and knit them into the piece. Keep up the good work.
You need an info page on you and Jill! You mention who you are, but you give us no reason why we should listen to you! (not to sound rude) Let us know who you are and why you are doing this, even if it's just "We love making purses!"
