Crochet Dishcloth Free Pattern #1

Never had I made a dishcloth before the other weekend. Actually, after the Harlot story I was a little afraid to make any!

But I told myself that I could do it and I did. Because I like the HARDINESS of the fabric that crochet makes I chose to use that method of stitching for my dishcloths. Figuring it wouldn't be very hard to pick a few stitch patterns that looked cool I pulled out my Crochet Stitch Bible and began to work them up.

I have to admit though...not all the stitches I tried turned out good on the first try.

After a few trial and errors...I found some that worked! So, I thought I would give you all ..FREE PATTERNS!!!

Dishcloth #1: The Fan Stitch

Yarn: 2 oz ball of Sugar n Cream in Faded Denim. (Didn't use whole ball)

Hook: size H/8 5mm

Stitch Guide:
chain
slip stitch
single crochet
double crochet

Abbreviations:

• ch - chain
  
• dc - double crochet
• sc - single crochet
• sl st - slip stitch
  

Finished Size pre-edging: 16cm wide and 16cm high
Finished Size post-edging: 19cm wide and 19cm high

Multiple of Stitches: 6 stitches + 1 (add 1 for foundation ch)

Pattern: Ch 25

• Row 1: (wrong side row) 5 DC in 5th ch from hook, skip 2 ch, 1 SC in next ch, *skip 2 ch, 5 DC in next ch, skip 2 ch, 1 SC in next ch, repeat from * to end, turn.
• Row 2: 5 CH, skip [first sc, 2 dc], *1 SC in next dc (the center dc of 5), 2 CH, skip 2 dc, 1DC in sc, 2 CH, skip 2 dc, 1 DC in sc, 2 CH, skip 2 dc, repeat from *, ending 1 DC in next ch, turn.
• Row 3: 3 CH, 2 DC in first dc, *skip 2 ch, 1 SC in sc, skip 2 ch, 5 DC in dc, repeat from *, ending 3 DC in 3rd of 5 ch, turn.
• Row 4: 1 CH, skip first dc, *2 CH, skip 2 dc, 1 DC in sc, 2 CH, skip 2 dc, 1 SC in next dc (the center dc of 5), repeat from *, ending 1 SC in 3rd of 3 ch, turn.
• Row 5: 1 CH, skip first sc, *skip 2 ch, 5 DC in dc, skip 2 ch, 1 SC in sc, repeat from * working last SC in first of 3 ch, turn.
• Repeat Rows 2-5: for 2 more times.
  
• Finish Off or Repeat row 2 one more time.
  

Edging:

• after finishing row 2 on pattern CH 2,
  
• Round 1: SC evenly around dishcloth 96 times,CH 3
• Round 2: SC in first sc, CH 3, *SC in next sc, CH 3, repeat from * to the last sc stitch. Join to first ch of first ch 3 with a Sl St.
  
• Finish Off.

That's it! Easy huh?
